I recently cloned a repository from GitHub. But when I tried to run it with Pycharm, there was an error that said that no module called pandas was available. So I went to my project interpreter and tried to add pandas to the interpreter, but for some reason it failed to install. The error was 'collect2: error: Id returned 1 exit status'. Is there a way to install the pandas package into my project interpreter in Pycharm? Thanks.
EDIT: So I made a new discovery after the suggestion to check the pip version. I opened up another virtual environment project interpreter that's 3.5 instead of 3.6, and I managed to install pandas on that one. I want to stick with my 3.6 project interpreter, so is there a way to get it installed on there or do I have no choice but to downgrade?

I have successfully installed npTDMS as seen here:
https://pypi.org/project/npTDMS/
If I try to install with command line using either pip or conda I get a message confirming it is already installed, and I see the package at D:\Users\username\anaconda3\pkgs.
On Spyder I have tried using the PYTHON path manager (in the tools menu) to add both:
D:\Users\username\anaconda3\pkgs\nptdms-1.2.0-pyhd8ed1ab_0
D:\Users\username\anaconda3\pkgs\nptdms-1.2.0-pyhd8ed1ab_0\site-packages\nptdms
As far as I understand this should be enough to use the npTDMS package, however when I try to import I get a ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'nptdms'.
I'm fairly new to python overall so maybe there is a simple thing I am missing.
This issue comes when there are multiple versions of python or any package you are running at current time. The same issue was with me too when the IDLE was not able to detect the position of where the package is installed.
My suggestion is that uninstall all the versions of python and the module you are using and install them again. Otherwise shift to any other IDLE, in my recommendation - Visual Studio Code.
Ok, I'm trying to install various packages like pandas and NumPy in Pycharm, and via Terminal (I'm on a mac), they are installed without issues and I can list them with pip list -
Then, however, when I go to Pycharm and do an import, I get the error
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pandas'
I tried the Pycharm settings and installing the package there, but then I get-
What is wrong here?
Interpreter:
You are probably using the wrong interpreter within pycharm when executing the code with the import statement. Check settings > project > project interpreter and make sure that the correct interpreter is selected.
I'm new to python trying to figure out some basics. I installed python 3.5 and then, to use jupyter notebook I installed anaconda distrubition. After that, I installed pycharm and started learning python.
After a few weeks, I was able to create a simple project which makes use of pyqt5. My project runs when I run it from pycharm itself, but when I try to run it with "python" command from cmd I get an error, stating that import from pyqt5 has failed. I did some research, and installed pyqt5 using pip, but the problem persists.
So what should I do to run my project without anaconda, using python 3.5?
It seems the anaconda distrubution and python itself were conflicting. Whenever I tried to install a module using pip (like pyqt5), it is installed under anaconda's python so when I try to invoke my own python from console i failed to use those installed modules. Hence there seems to be two option;
Delete all python related stuff from the computer and clean install python only - no anaconda. (I did this)
Or when installing a module, try using different pip's for the two python distrubutions on our computer. Check this link: Install a module using pip for specific python version
I am trying to get Pandas to work on my Pycharm environment. I have installed it through the command:
pip install pandas
But when I run the code in my environment, import pandas as pd
I get the error:
No module named 'pandas'
When I try to install it using the project interpreter in Pycharm, I get the error:
error occurred when installing package 'pandas'
EDIT:
I didn't state what happens when I look into this error. I click 'Details'.
Then it says:
AttributeError: module 'pip' has no attribute 'main'
Perhaps this may tell us something about the issue
The error is identical to the one reported here Module pip has no attribute 'main'
For pip version 10.x and higher you should update Pycharm to 2018.2.
Or simply run pip in a terminal outside of Pycharm
Which Python version are you using? If you are using Python3, then the correct command is pip3 install pandas.
Make sure that the pip command you are calling refers to the same python that you are running. Try pip -V for more information.
-Update your pycharm to the latest version
-Update pip to the latest version and ensure its same as the python.exc
-Run pip install pandas command as an administrator
-Try installing pandas again
Apparently, you installed Pandas for python2 by pip. For python3, you need to use pip3.
However, it doesn't matter regarding your problem. Probably, you don't choose the right project interpreter.
For Pycharm, it supports the system python(2 and 3), as well as the virtual environment. You may install the Pandas module in system python, but use the virtual environment as default.
Simple solution
Make sure you select the interpreter you want (system or
virtualenv);
Check package list, if there is Pandas module;
If yes, refresh the project list;
If not, simply click + to search Pandas and install it to your
project interpreter.
Where can I download _winreg for python3 if I can at all. I have my 'windir' on E:\Windows. I do not know if cx_Freeze did not notice that. I am using cx_Freeze to create an msi installer.
As it says in the _winreg documentation, it has been renamed to winreg in Python 3.0. You should run the 2to3 tool if you're converting code that was written for Python 2.x.
I know this is an old question, but this was the first search result when Googling for ModuleNotFoundError: No module named '_winreg', and perhaps may be helpful for someone.
I got the same error when trying to use a virtual environment folder, which has been created using different (already deleted) python binaries. The solution was recreate the virtual environment:
Delete the virtual environment folder
Run python -m venv <name_of_virtual_environment>
I have found an easy solution for this, Even though i found it after a lot of Rnd, the solution implementation is so simple and straight forward. Hope it can help many people with the same problem.
If you dont have the latest version of Python installed on your machine, You need to download it from (https://www.python.org/downloads/) and then click on Add to path option and just finish the installer.
Please open CMD and move to the python latest version directory, then run the pip install package name (e.g) pip install pygame and it will be successful
1. C:\WINDOWS\system32>cd C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37-32
2. C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37-32>pip install Pygame
It will install the packages now without any issues.
Downloading
Successfully installed Pygame-1.9.4
C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37-32>
If you are still facing issues in Pycharm after trying the above solution, please try the following steps too.
Create new virtual Environment from settings menu and select the latest version of python framework as Project Interpreter and give a new folder path.
select the pip package you want to import. Recompile the code and the error will clear.
Hope this helps.
When you encounter an error like module of simpleai not found,
use
pip install simpleai
in the prompt and then execute. It will get installed.
