I'm trying to get Google AppEngine to work on my Debian box and am getting the following error when I try to access my page:
<type 'exceptions.ImportError'>: No module named core.exceptions
The same app works fine for me when I run it on my other Ubuntu box, so I know it's not a problem with the app itself. However, I need to get it working on this Debian box. It originally had python 2.4 but after AppEngine complained about it I installed the python2.5 and python2.5-dev packages (to no avail).
I saw on this Google Group post that it may be due to the version of AppEngine and just to reinstall it, but that didn't work. Any ideas?
Edit 1: Also tried uninstalling python2.4 and 2.5 then reinstalling 2.5, which also didn't work.
Edit 2: Turns out when I made AppEngine into a CVS project it didn't add the core directory into my project, so when I checked it out there literally was no module named core.exceptions. Re-downloading that folder resolved the problem.
core.exceptions is part of django; what version of django do you have installed? The AppEngine comes with the appropriate version for whatever release you've downloaded (in the lib/django directory). It can be installed by going to that directory and running python setup.py install

So long story short. I want to use requests and bs4 modules in my code. I installed them using pip install requests, pip install bs4. I double checked everything, even found installation folder and saw that the files is here, but my vs code is not detecting it and giving a error. I'm a quite new to this programming language so possibly it's a common issue. But i searched and mostly found posts about this problems on diffrent versions of linux, not windows.

And when i'm launching the program through cmd the error is
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'requests'
First, you should add more information for us to know how your computer and IDE are configured. The first thing you should do is to check that VS Code is using the Python version where you have pip installed the modules. That is, clicking at the bottom-left space as in the picture below. Then checking that the modules are within that path.
Otherwise, check out virtualenv. With this tool you can create virtual environments within your project's folder and makes it easier to manage packages.
On their Built-in Third-party Libraries page, it says that lxml 3.7.3 is supported but I can't seem to find a way to use that.
If I write in app.yaml:

version: latest
When I log etree.LXML_VERSION inside the app, I get (2, 3, 0, 0).
Setting the version specifically to "3.7.3" (instead of latest) doesn't seem to work. When I try to deploy, gcloud says:
ERROR: (gcloud.app.deploy) An error occurred while parsing file: [... /app.yaml]
lxml version "3.7.3" is not supported, use one of: "2.3", "2.3.5"
in "... app.yaml", line 17, column 1
I have installed lxml locally inside the ./lib folder, but the folder is ignored on deploy.
Am I doing something wrong?
The problems seemed to happen because of an old google cloud sdk.
The sdk was installed using apt-get and somehow it was not getting updated. This also included an older Python SDK
At this moment the latest Python SDK is 1.9.62, I was using 1.9.52.
Updating the sdk seemed to fix the problem
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install google-cloud-sdk
It wouldn't be the 1st time that inconsistencies exist between the documentation, what's included in the cloud SDK, what's included in the GAE language specific SDK and what's actually available on GAE (in production). See, for example, PyCharm - Can't create App Engine Application using DJango.
The deployment error message you got suggests that the 3.7.3 version doesn't actually exist on GAE, despite being marked as available in the documentation.
The lxml library is on the list of a few special libraries which need extra attention. Most likely because they aren't "pure Python code with no C extensions" and thus they can't be included in the SDKs with the other libraries, so they need to be installed separately on your local system. From Using built-in bundled libraries with the local development server (check that entire section for related info):
Many of the built-in libraries provided by the runtime are
automatically available to the local development server. However, the
following built-in libraries must be installed locally before you can
use them with the local development server:
lxml
matplotlib
mysqldb
numpy
PIL
crcmod
pycrypto
Now, if you really want the 3.7.3 version, you may be out of luck: if indeed it's not "pure Python code with no C extensions" then you also won't be able to vendor it into your app either. Still, it's worth a try. A new try, note that you also need to:
take it out of the app.yaml file's libraries: section - you're not requesting a GAE-provided library anymore
complete the entire vendoring in procedure (you didn't mention creating the appengine_config.py file, for example).
If that doesn't work then you'll have to settle for one of the available versions mentioned in the deployment error messages. You'll need to:
add that version to the app.yaml file's libraries: section
install that version on your local system
drop the vendoring in attempt, if you went for it
I am using python 3.5 and I am doing Algorithms specialization courses on Coursera. Professor teaching this course posted a program which can help us to know the time and memory associated with running a program. It has import resource command at the top. I tried to run this program along with the programs I have written in python and every time I received ImportError: No module named 'resource'
I used the same code in ubuntu and have no errors at all.
I followed suggestions in stackoverflow answers and I have tried adding PYTHONPATH PYTHONHOME and edited the PATH environment variable.
I have no idea of what else I can do here.
Is there any file that I can download and install it in the Lib or site-packages folder of my python installation ?
resource is a Unix specific package as seen in https://docs.python.org/2/library/resource.html which is why it worked for you in Ubuntu, but raised an error when trying to use it in Windows.
I ran into similar error in window 10. Here is what solved it for me.
Downgrade to the Apache Spark 2.3.2 prebuild version
Install (or downgrade) jdk to version 1.8.0
My installed jdk was 1.9.0, which doesn't seem to be compatiable with spark 2.3.2 or 2.4.0
make sure that when you run java -version in cmd (command prompt), it show java version 8. If you are seeing version 9, you will need to change your system ENV PATH to ensure it points to java version 8.
Check this link to get help on changing the PATH if you have multiple java version installed.
Hope this helps someone, I was stuck on this issue for almost a week before finally finding a solution.
I have been trying to get SCons working now for quite a time, but didn't succeed yet. Before everything else: I'm running Windows 7 x64.
I have firstly installed Python 2.7.11 in C:\Software\Python27 and added both that directory as C:\Software\Python\Scripts to
the system path (for all users, that is). Then I installed SCons in C:\Software\Python27\Lib\site-packages\scons-2.4.1, and
the scripts in the previous mentioned scripts-directory (the directories which the SCons installation msi defaults to).
And now when I try to run SCons I get this error message:
Import failed. Unable to find SCons files in:
...
ImportError: No module named SCons.Script
As a user I really don't have any idea where the error comes from, other than that SCons can't resolve it's own imports.
I got it working by creating though by creating a new folder: C:\Software\Python27\Scripts\scons-local and moving the
contents of the SCons installation folder (...\Python27\Lib\site-packages\scons-2.4.1) to the newly created folder. But this
gives me a syntax error:
I found here that this error is due to my Python version not supporting conditional expressions, because this kind of
expressions are supported from Python 2.4 and higher. The thing is though that I am using Python 2.7.11, and thus I shouldn't get
this error.

The windows installer is no longer supported.
The best way to install SCons is now via pip
so:
python -Mpip install SCons
Note you will need Python 3.5 or newer (though at this point I'd suggest 3.10 or newer)
I installed the Windows (32bit) BitNami DjangoStack 1.4.1.0 and elected not to install the python that came with it as I already have Python 2.7 installed.
I got the error below and also an internal server error when I clicked on the button in the introduction web page (so Appache is running ok)

[error] mod_wsgi (pid=3990): Target WSGI script '/opt/bitnami/apps/django/scripts/django.wsgi' cannot be loaded as Python module
I found a similar question but that related to installing on Amazon. Also following through the answers it appeared that the problem is that the wsgi had been compiled against the wrong python version.
I then uninstalled BitNami and re-installed using the python version that was provided - still the same message.
I don't see how the wrong python version can be the problem if the BitNami package is self contained, i.e. comes with all the bits needed to run.
In case my previously installed version was causing the problem I remove it from the PATH environment variable.
Also the documentation for Windows seems wrong. django.conf and django.wsgi are not where the docs say they are (\Users\user\BitNami SDjangoStack projects\apps). In fact the only thing in that directory is the new project I selected on installation - no apps directory. I found the files in the BitNami directories.
Also when I typed python in the BitNami console I got python 2.7.3, not 2.7.2 which is listed in the installation guide.
I thought this package would be wonderful to help me get a production Django site running. It is now ready in the development phase to go live for testing.
What do you exactly mean with not installing Python? BitNami DjangoStack is self contained in the sense that it includes its own Python and its dependecies. Also you mentioned that you are running it on Windows but the path /opt/bitnami is the default path when installing as root in Linux. What exact options did you select during the installation?
