for the thesis work on forensic analysis I should try to automatically delete a file created and placed in the "system32" folder.
This is the code I ran:

How can I run it with the right permissions?
Depends on how you are running the Python interpreter. If you are using Powershell, you can Right-click the Powershell icon and run it as Administrator. After this, any Python script you run from that shell will also run with admin rights.

which runs perfectly from the terminal (Python 3 required) if I do for example: python aoc_03.py
But if I try to run it from VSCode, taking advantage of the Python extension and integration, I get this error:

My guess is that when invoked from VSCode, the script is run from a different path, so it cannot find the file aoc_03_input.txt which is located in the same folder of the script.
How do I tell VSCode to run my script from the /Users/andrea/Documents/advent_of_code_2019/aoc/ folder, so that it will be able to find my input file?

Actually, I should have tried more before asking this question, because I just found the solution, but at this point I will write it here in case it can be useful to anyone:
If I change the path in this way:
with open('./aoc_03_input.txt', 'r') as file:
The file is being open correctly when I run the code in VSCode and when I run it from the terminal. Tested under OSX (but it should work under Linux too. Not sure about Windows).
I have a script on a RHEL 7.x machine written in Python3. In testing this script I created a function which will append to a text file in the same directory.
If I execute the script from the local directory ie - ./pyscript.py everything works as expected.
But I am trying to execute this from a Bash script a couple directories higher and it doesn't seem to work right. The other functions in the script will execute, but this very last one which appends to a text file will not.
Now, if I run the script as the user which owns it(and the txt file) from my home dir, the script errors out with a permission error. BUT if I run the script with sudo it finishes with NO error, However it does NOT write to the text file.
My user has RW privileges on every dir between the bash script and the python script.
Any thoughts on why a sudo or local user run doesn't seem to let me write to the text file??

If you use open("filename.txt", 'mode'), it will open that file in the directory from which the script is executed, not relative to the current directory of the script. If you want the path to directory where the script exists, import the os module and use open(os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(__file__))+"filename.txt"). The permission error is because the file doesn't exist; sudo overrides that but does nothing because the file doesn't exist.

I moved the script to another folder and partition, running moviepy dependancies and python as admin, turning off UAC still gives me error
I've run into this as well, solution is usually to be sure to run the program as an administrator (right click, run as administrator.)
Sometimes it occurs when some installations are not completed correctly, the process is stuck, or a file is still opened. So, when you try to run the installation again and the installation requires deleting, you can see the aforementioned error. In my case, shutting down the python processes and command prompt utilization helped.
this resolved my problem
Click on the search button in the taskbar and type “cmd”. Right-click on the Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

On windows I used --use-container option during sam build
So, in order to fix stuck process, I've restarted docker
I got the same error when an imported library was trying to create a directory at path "./logs/".
It turns out that the library was trying to create it at the wrong location, i.e. inside the folder of my python interpreter instead of the base project directory. I solved the issue by setting the "Working directory" path to my project folder inside the "Run Configurations" menu of PyCharm. If instead you're using the terminal to run your code, maybe you just need to move inside the project folder before running it.
If you're encountering this in Jupyter/Jupyerlab while trying to pip install foo, you can sometimes work around it by using !python -m pip install foo instead.
On Windows, for me, it looked like at some point I'd set the folder to read-only.
Not really sure when, possibly during some mount failure on my Linux boot, but recursively clearing that flag helped.
I know it is pretty old and a couple of fellows has given the abstract answer to it.

This might happen when the working directory path is different from the where the file is present . For example while running files and importing them in Spyder3 I have to check the working directory .
Maybe you wrongly set permission on python3. For instance if for the file permission is set like
`os.chmod('spam.txt', 0777)` --> This will lead to SyntaxError
This syntax was used in Python2. Now if you change like:
os.chmod('spam.txt', 777) --> This is still worst!! Your permission will be set wrongly since are not on "octal" but on decimal.
Afterwards you will get permission Error if you try for instance to remove the file:
PermissionError: [WinError 5] Access is denied:
Solution for python3 is quite easy:
os.chmod('spam.txt', 0o777) --> The syntax is now ZERO and o "0o"
I'm currently trying to make cx_freeze to work on a Solaris workstation I have to work with, in order to make an executable from a Python script I have. Problem is, I'm not administrator of this machine, and installation of cx_freeze requests write to site-packages, which is read-only for me.
So, obviously, I get this error:

Obviously, this is linked to the failed installation. So, here's my question:
Without installation of virtualenv, could I avoid the writing to site-packages, and make cx_freeze to execute from my home folder?
EDIT I had a look at site.py documentation, and PYTHONPATH filling should be equivalent to use of site-packages. So my question is now more something like: what is the path to be added to PYTHONPATH, so that cx_freeze could be executed from any location?
Notes:
I would like to avoid to deal with virtualenv, as I'm already struggling to understand the executable tools...
I saw this question, but this still requires access to site-packages folder, plus it's not user-specific;
I tried adding the following path to PYTHONPATH, but this does not work: /home/xxxx/cx_freeze-4.2.3/build/lib.solaris-2.10-sun4v-2.6;
I'm also trying to use PyInstaller but have dependency problems (and the administrator is not really helping me).
This works like a charm for me :
$ python setup.py install --home=$HOME
Run in the source directory of cx_freeze found on the Sourceforge download page.
