This question is similar to this one. I am trying to debug pyethapp
with the following configuration:
The entry point is located in app.py. The code runs fine when not being debugged, but once I launch the debugger the following exception is thrown:

AttributeError: 'InputHookManager' object has no attribute 'register'
This error is known to happen if you use old versions of IPython (in which indeed the method register was not yet implemented). As you presumably use OSX, in which a default Python install is included, there might be some conflicting Ipython copies in your environment, different versions of which are called by the regular and debugging configurations?
This problem is probably resolved by moving the project to a virtual environment in which your root packages cannot interfere.
To get rid of cython missing warning, run:
python2 /.......git/liclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev_6.2.0.201711281546/pysrc/setu p_cython.py build_ext --inplace
Finally the debug window stay clean of those dreaded warnings and cluttering.

I'm running Python 3.10.2288.0 (x64) on a Windows 10 OS.
I use IDLE as interpreter.
So far, I have been running IDLE (in and out venv) by:
C:path\to\venv venv\Scripts\Activate
(venv) C:path\to\venv python -m idlelib.idle
All of a sudden, this command didn't work anymore.
The following error appeared:

I tried to reinstall Python, but nothing changed.
The same error appears when running command outside the venv.
It seems that everything is up-to-date.
What do you suggest?
Thanks,

This is the result of a buggy fix to a bug that is triggered when Python is installed without the test module. The bug appeared in 3.10.8 and 3.12.0a1, released a week ago, and at least in Microsoft Store Python 3.10.2288.0.
Omitting the test module seem to not currently be an option on Mac, so this should not be a problem there.
One fix anywhere is to edit /Lib/idlelib/macosx.py: delete line 7, from test.support import requires, ResourceDenied, and replace line 23, requires('gui') with pass. This may require admin privileges.
On Windows, rerun the python.org installer, chose Modify, and check the box to install the test suite.
For the Windows store Python, including the test suite may not be an option. One can, as mentioned in the comments, instead get the python.org installer and install with the test suite.
I don't know what the situation is for *nix.
I have created an executable cli.exe for my python module named abc. abc is running fine inside pycharm but when i run my cli.exe from the cmd prompt, it is giving the following error:

I am at my wits end as to what to do to resolve this as the very same code runs flawlessly inside pycharm.
The way i am running cli.exe in cmd prompt is: cli.exe parameter1 parameter2 parameter3
And i am also running my executable from the same directory where the module is kept(errors say it all, because I think it entered the program and then threw an error)
Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

I'm new to Django CMS, Django, and Python. My previous CMS experience has been with WordPress and I'm try to try out Django CMS as an alternative to WordPress, but am getting an error that I can not seem to figure out. I have updated the pip modules and installed others as suggested in threads on StackOverflow, but to no avail.
I followed the tutorial the instructions, with the exception of the djangocms command, which is incorrect in the tutorial. (It's missing the -w flag.)
EDIT: As requested, here is the output with the --verbose flag added:

I'm going to guess that the problem lies in the message:
settings.DATABASES is improperly configured. Please supply the NAME value.
The installation has failed.
I'm using PostgreSQL, so I assume that the error is caused by the schema not being provided in the command argument. There was nothing in the guide that I saw indicating how to provide it, so I'll have to search some more.
The error message tells me absolutely nothing. It only tells me that Django tried to use pip to install something and for whatever reason it failed. In order to figure out what went wrong, try enabling verbose mode (python -v). If that gives the same output, or that isn't an option because you're using a program that calls Python (which it sounds like you are), let me know and prepare to go into the source code. Trust me, I have taken many a dive into source code for Python utilities, and as long as you don't do anything stupid (like delete a file) it's pretty hard to mess anything up. Even if you do you can always reinstall Django (or make a backup first). Don't worry about messing up your computer. You'd have to work hard to make Django do that!
Original error
The non-verbose error message indicates the error in a cryptic way, and using --verbose provides a more understandable message.
I was missing one required module (psycopg2) and four others were versions which were too new (easy_thumbnails, Django, html5lib, django-select2).
I uninstalled the four modules and then reinstalled them using the version requirement in the command. e.g. pip install 'Django<1.10'.
psycopg2 required extra steps, as I got an error message when trying to install it indicating that it could not find pg_config. Another SO answer advised that I just had to install postgresql-devel. After I did that, (sudo yum install postgresql-devel), I also uninstalled postgresql8-libs, as postgresql-devel came with a newer version. I didn't do it before since yum indicated a PHP dependency, and I wasn't sure if it would cause problems if I did.
Second error
Pretty simple. I was missing the /NAME component of the database URL (postgres://USER:PASSWORD#HOST:PORT/NAME).
Context: I started using OSX about a year ago, and I had a kind of screwy python installation. That is, I was using system python, and installed packages with sudo when that seemed to make things work. Now, I'm starting from a fresh OSX install, and trying to do it the Right Way. I've installed python and python3 from brew, and trying to use python3 whenever possible.
Problem: I have a .pythonrc file, which just imports a handful of commonly used packages - mostly standard lib, a few popular nonstandard packages, and a few of my own. In the past, this file has only been run when I start an interactive shell. Now, when using brew python, it is run whenever I run any python program.
There must be some gap in my understanding of the rc file - I thought the purpose was specifically for interactive use. Still, when I use system python, the rc file isn't used - so something is different about my system python (2.7.10 at /usr/bin/python) vs brew python (2.7.12 at /usr/local/bin/python; 3.5.2 at /usr/local/bin/python3). The behavior is the same if I remove everything except a print statement from the rc file.
edit: I realized that the rc file is running because I'm importing ipdb. This makes sense I suppose, but I still don't understand why that would happen in some of the python environments/versions but not others.
edit: https://github.com/gotcha/ipdb/blob/master/ipdb/main.py#L44 this line fails, not sure if this means anything.

You can ask the traceback module:
$ cat .pythonrc
import traceback; traceback.print_stack()
$ cat test.py
import ipdb
Then by running
$ PYTHONSTARTUP="$HOME/.pythonrc" python test.py
you should get a traceback that tells you exactly from where the startup script is being run. Most likely, this is due to a call
start_ipython()
somewhere in the ipdb import.
