Currently trying to run Google's research, I come into the error below when following the instructions provided. Instruction on Github - Mint Linux system with Anaconda/Tensorflow download. This is the second step in "Getting the Datasets"
~/test/models/research $ bazel run domain_adaptation/datasets:download_and_convert_mnist_m -- --dataset_dir $DSN_DATA_DIR
ERROR: /home/.../models/research/domain_adaptation/datasets/BUILD:29:1: no such package 'slim': BUILD file not found on package path and referenced by '//research/domain_adaptation/datasets:download_and_convert_mnist_m'
ERROR: Analysis of target '//research/domain_adaptation/datasets:download_and_convert_mnist_m' failed; build aborted: no such package 'slim': BUILD file not found on package path
INFO: Elapsed time: 0.168s
The research models, including slim and domain_adaptation, have been moved to the //research package in this commit from the top level.
However, this change has not been reflected in the BUILD files for https://github.com/tensorflow/models/tree/master/research/domain_adaptation. You will need to prepend research into the BUILD targets such as this, this, and this (i.e. from //slim:mnist to //research/slim:mnist), therefore referencing the correct BUILD file for slim.

I'm trying to install Ros2-galactic in Ubuntu 20.04 version.
while Installing I'm facing the following issue.
--- stderr: rqt
error: Multiple top-level packages discovered in a flat-layout: ['share', 'resource'].
To avoid accidental inclusion of unwanted files or directories,
setuptools will not proceed with this build.
If you are trying to create a single distribution with multiple packages
on purpose, you should not rely on automatic discovery.
Instead, consider the following options:
1. set up custom discovery (`find` directive with `include` or `exclude`)
2. use a `src-layout`
3. explicitly set `py_modules` or `packages` with a list of names
To find more information, look for "package discovery" on setuptools docs.

Does anyone know how to debug this error - Error while finding module specification for 'pip' (AttributeError: module '__main__' has no attribute '__file__'). What does this mean?
The release 60.3.0 of setuptools has a bug causing the above AttributeError, see : https://github.com/pypa/setuptools/issues/3002
It has been yanked by Pypi since then:
Yanked files are always ignored, unless they are the only file that matches a version specifier that "pins" to an exact version using either == (without any modifiers that make it a range, such as .*) or ===. Matching this version specifier should otherwise be done as per PEP 440 for things like local versions, zero padding, etc.
Source: https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0592/
What you can do as of now is pass the version of the setuptools package explicitly, to use for example version 60.2.0 or 60.3.1.
I had the same issue when deploying a Google Cloud Function. The error
cloud function Error while finding module specification for 'pip' (AttributeError: module 'main' has no attribute 'file'); Error ID: c84b3231
appeared after commenting out some packages in the requirements.txt, but that was nothing important and likely did not cause it. I guess that it is more a problem of an instability in Google Storage, since that same Cloud Function I was working on had lost its archive already some time before, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, showing:
Archive not found in the storage location cloud function
and I did not delete or change anything that might explain this, as Archive not found in the storage location: Google Function would suggest. Though that answer has one very interesting guess that might explain at least the very first time the "Archive not found" error came up and thus made the CF instable: I might have changed the timezone city of the bucket during browsing the Google Storage. It is too long ago, but I know I browsed the GS, therefore, I cannot exclude this. Quote: "It [the Archive not found error] may occurr too if GCS bucket's region is not matched to your Cloud function region."
After this "Archive not found" crash, I manually added main.py and requirements.txt and filled them again with code from the backup. This worked for some time, but there seems to be some general instability in the Google Storage. Therefore, always keep backups of your deployed scripts.
Then, after getting this pip error of the question in that already instable Cloud Function, waiting for a day or two, Google Function again showed
Archive not found in the storage location cloud function
If you run into this pip error in a Cloud Function, you might consider updating pip in the "requirements.txt" but if you are in such an unstable Cloud Function the better workaround seems to be to create a new Cloud Function and copy everything in there.
The pip error probably just shows that the source script, in this case the requirements.txt, cannot be run since the source code is not fully embedded anymore or has lost some embedding in the Google Storage.
Or you give that Cloud Function a second chance and edit, go to Source tab, click on Dropdown Source code to choose Inline Editor and add main.py and requirements.txt manually (Runtime: Python).
By installing the previous version 60.2.0 of setuptools before installing pip-tools helped me get it running.
pip install setuptools==60.2.0
Your setuptools version is likely to be yanked:
https://pypi.org/project/setuptools/60.3.0/
Not sure how to fix that without a working pip though.
Setuptools 60.3.1 is out now. GitHub Link here.
I am installing Tensorflow. I encountered the following problem:
I was installing Tensorflow from Source and I am following the Tensorflow website (https://www.tensorflow.org/install/source)
I had earlier installed Bazel 3.0.0 (the latest version) but got a similar error. Upon looking at other answers I figured out this error has something to do with the version of Bazel. Hence I uninstalled Bazel 3.0.0 and installed Bazel 0.27.1. But upon typing the following command(bazel build //tensorflow/tools/pip_package:build_pip_package) in the terminal, I am getting the following error:

Starting with version 0.20.0, http_archive native rule has been deprecated, it has to be loaded from: #bazel_tools//tools/build_defs/repo:http.bzl. I.e. you need to add the following (unless you have a customized version) in WORKSPACE or bzl files using it:
load("#bazel_tools//tools/build_defs/repo:http.bzl", "http_archive")
I am trying to install Wireshark. There is a dependency of atk package. I downloaded atk-2.32.0 from net. atk-2.32.0 could only be install by meson.
Below are the steps I followed for installation.
Downloaded atk
Download meson
Moved to atk directory.
Used command
../meson-0.50.0/meson.py _build .
>>However it is give this error:
>>"meson.build:97:0: ERROR: Subproject directory not found and glib.wrap
>>file not found."
Please help to resolve this issue.
To add a Meson subproject, you need to create a .wrap file and put it in the subprojects directory of the main Meson project.
If the subprojects directory doesn't exist in your project directory, you need to create it. Then create a file in the subprojects directory called glib.wrap with the following contents:
[wrap-git]
url = https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib.git
[provide]
dependency_names = glib-2.0, gobject-2.0, gio-2.0
This extremely basic .wrap file should work, but if you're shipping a project (or a cloned repository requires it) you may prefer specifying a given version of GLib by downloading a versioned .wrap file from Meson's WrapDB (scroll down to glib).
I'm extremely new to Meson subprojects, but it seems like the .wrap file should have been included in the cloned repository in the first place? Also on Linux at least GLib should "just work", or at least it should be available with a compiler.find_library() call in your meson.build like so:
deps = [
meson.get_compiler('c').find_library('glib'),
...
]
executable(
meson.project_name(),
dependencies: deps,
...
)
Please sound off in the comments if these don't quite work. I'm posting an answer here because this is the top DuckDuckGo search result for this error message, but in my case I was trying to add a different subproject to a project of my own, so it would have been quite a bit more work for me to test this particular example.
I'm trying to run a script that requires the datasets python package. I've tried installing this unsuccessfully using pip by calling:
pip install datasets
I know this hasn't worked because when I run the script I get the message:
Traceback (most recent call last):

import lda
File "/Users/deepthought/lda.py", line 3, in <module>
import datasets
ImportError: No module named datasets
I've installed python via homebrew.
When I run pip install datasets I get the error:

I'm fairly new to scripting python or going under the hood of an OS X, so there's a risk I've missed something elementary.
I've been researching & trying to overcome this for about a week now including looking at similar questions on stackoverflow.com and haven't gotten past this stage for the duration. One of the tutorials I was working through told me to edit ~/.profile
This has been left like so:
# The orginal version is saved in .profile.pysave
#PATH="/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.5/bin:${PATH}"
#export PATH
export PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:$PATH
/etc/paths contains:
/usr/local/bin
/usr/bin
/bin
/usr/sbin
/sbin

Warning: Your Homebrew is outdated.
You haven't updated for at least 24 hours. This is a long time in brewland!
To update Homebrew, run `brew update`.
How do I make progress in diagnosing the issue with the installation of the datasets package?
Update
Here is the script I'm trying to run:
import sys
egg_path = '/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/datasets-0.0.9-py2.7.egg'
sys.path.append(egg_path)
import numpy as np
import lda
import datasets
X = lda.datasets.load_reuters()
vocab = lda.datasets.load_reuters_vocab()
titles = lda.datasets.load_reuters_titles()
X.shape
(395, 4258)
X.sum()
84010
model = lda.LDA(n_topics=20, n_iter=1500, random_state=1)
model.fit(X) # model.fit_transform(X) is also available
topic_word = model.topic_word_ # model.components_ also works
n_top_words = 8
for i, topic_dist in enumerate(topic_word):
topic_words = np.array(vocab)[np.argsort(topic_dist)][:-(n_top_words+1):-1]
print('Topic {}: {}'.format(i, ' '.join(topic_words)))
Using pip install datasets I was also not able to properly install this package. It seems like there is a bug in this particular package.
The DESCRIBE.rst file is simply missing. To fix this just download the plain package from PyPi. https://pypi.python.org/pypi/datasets/0.0.9
Then adjust the setup.py file (remove the description).
Afterwards you need to install using python setup.py install. Don't forget to add the installed package to your Python path!
To do so, I would recommend that you add the following to your script.
import sys
egg_path = '__MODULE_PATH__/datasets-0.0.9-py3.5.egg'
sys.path.append(egg_path)
import datasets
Otherwise, you can also add your module using:
export PATH=__MODULE_PATH__:$PATH
Alternatively, you could also simply pull the source code from the Github repository and just include it in your project. https://github.com/realtimeweb/datasets
Hope this was kind of helpful to your problem. If you got any further questions just let me know.
I just hit the same issue on a rapsberry pi, just found out this had been fixed but the error comes from the lack of ram to extract properly the package.
You can fix this by disabling the creation of a cache dir in ram adding the parameter
--no-cache-dir
for example
pip2 install --user --no-cache-dir datasets
