How to decode messages.Message to JSON in python 2.7 for Google Cloud Endpoints Frameworks ? Especially when we have some nested messages.
Endpoints version :
google-endpoints==2.4.5 and google-endpoints-api-management==1.3.0
from protorpc import messages
# messsage definition
class GPSCoord(messages.Message):
"""
GPS data obj
"""
latitude = messages.FloatField(1)
longitude = messages.FloatField(2)
class Address(messages.Message):
"""
Address objectt
"""
type = messages.StringField(1)
name = messages.StringField(2)
number = messages.StringField(3)
city = messages.StringField(4)
zip_code = messages.IntegerField(5)
gps_coord = messages.MessageField(GPSCoord, 6)
I tried to add a method "to_json" to messages definition but I had "MessageDefinitionError: May only use fields in message definitions. " exception.
It looks like a rudimentary operation but it's not that easy. Python SDK needs a huge improvement for this part.
You should make use of the built-in Endpoints JSON code. This is not exact, but something like this:
from endpoints import protojson
p = protojson.EndpointsProtoJson()
p.decode_message(Address, '{...}')
I developed my own solution finally, here the code :
def request_to_json(request):
"""
Take a coming request (POST) and
get JSON.
"""
json_dict = {}
for field in request.all_fields():
if field.__class__.__name__ == 'MessageField':
data = getattr(request, field.name)
if data:
if data.__class__.__name__ == 'FieldList':
json_dict.update({
field.name: [request_to_json(data[i]) for i in range(len(data))]
})
else:
json_dict.update({
field.name: request_to_json(data)
})
else:
json_dict.update({
field.name: getattr(request, field.name)
})
return json_dict
It considers the nested messages fields, the list fields and primitive fields.
I tested it on POST requests and it works well.

I'm trying to make my FastAPI docs pretty. I have 2 endpoints—both post requests. The first has a single required field, while the second has two required fields.
My end points:
#reset session
#app.post("/reset_session/", tags=["Recording"])
async def reset_session( session_id: str = Body(example=SESSION_ID_EXAMPLE, title="Session title bob", description="bob the builder")):
return database.reset_session(session_id)
#reset session/computer_id
#app.post("/reset_session_computer/", tags=["Recording"])
async def reset_session_computer(session_id : str = Body(example=SESSION_ID_EXAMPLE, embed=True, title="sessions are happy"),computer_id : str = Body(example=COMPUTER_ID_EXAMPLE, description="computer description", embed=True) ):
return database.reset_session_for_computer(session_id, computer_id)
I don't want to use a pydantic model.
Is there a way to embed these two required fields into a starlette Request object and still communicate to the generated docs that these two are required fields in the request?
For example,
#reset session/computer_id
#app.post("/reset_session_computer/", tags=["Recording"])
async def reset_session_computer(request : Request = Body(...): #What goes in here?
session_id = request.json().get("session_id")
computer_id = request.json().get("computer_id")
return database.reset_session_for_computer(session_id, computer_id)
How do I get the default values to appear in the docs? For the first request, it is working as intended. However, the second request with 2 params, currently, they are showing are showing as {"session_id":"string", "computer_id":"string"} rather that what I specified. What's the best way for me to document my function without a pydantic model? Ironically, the schema generates correctly, it's just the default values are not...

I am trying to start an eBay API in Python and I can't find a single answer as to how to get an API key with eBay's new requirements of "Account Deletion/Closure Notifications." Here's the link: https://developer.ebay.com/marketplace-account-deletion
Specifically, I am told that "Your Keyset is currently disabled" because I have not completed whatever process is needed for this marketplace account deletion/closure notification.
The problems?
I have no idea if I need this.
I have no idea how to actually do this.
Re: 1. It looks like this is for anyone who stores user data. I don’t think that’s me intentionally because I really just want to get sold data and current listings, but is it actually me?
Re: 2. I don’t understand how to validate it and send back the proper responses. I’ve gotten quite good at python but I’m lost here.
eBay forums are completely useless and I see no one with an answer to this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Re: 1. Same. Here's my interpretation: In order to use their APIs, you need to provide (and configure) your own API, so they can communicate with you —programatically— and tell you what users have asked to have their accounts/data deleted.
Re: 2. To handle their GET and POST requests, I guess you'll need to configure a website's URL as an API endpoint. In Django, I might use something like this (untested) code:
import hashlib
import json
from django.http import (
HttpResponse,
JsonResponse,
HttpResponseBadRequest
)
def your_api_endpoint(request):
"""
API Endpoint to handle the verification's challenge code and
receive eBay's Marketplace Account Deletion/Closure Notifications.
"""
# STEP 1: Handle verification's challenge code
challengeCode = request.GET.get('challenge_code')
if challengeCode is not None:
# Token needs to be 32-80 characters long
verificationToken = "your-token-012345678901234567890123456789"
# URL needs to use HTTPS protocol
endpoint_url = "https://your-domain.com/your-endpoint"
# Hash elements need to be ordered as follows
m = hashlib.sha256((challengeCode+verificationToken+endpoint_url).encode('utf-8'))
# JSON field needs to be called challengeResponse
return JsonResponse({"challengeResponse": m.hexdigest()}, status=200)
# STEP 2: Handle account deletion/closure notification
elif request.method == 'POST':
notification_details = json.loads(request.body)
# Verify notification is actually from eBay
# ...
# Delete/close account
# ...
# Acknowledge notification reception
return HttpResponse(status=200)
else:
return HttpResponseBadRequest()
If you find the answer to question number one, please do let me know.
Re: 1. You need to comply with eBay's Marketplace Account Deletion/Closure Notification workflow if you are storing user data into your own database. For example, using eBay's Buy APIs, you may get access to what users are selling on eBay (for ex. an eBay feed of products). If those eBay sellers decide they want to remove all of their personal data from eBay's database, eBay is requesting you remove their data from your database as well. If you are NOT storing any eBay user data into your database, you do not need to comply. Here is where you can find more info: https://partnerhelp.ebay.com/helpcenter/s/article/Complying-with-the-eBay-Marketplace-Account-Deletion-Closure-Notification-workflow?language=en_US

I've been trying #José Matías Arévalo code. It works except "STEP 2" branch - Django returns 403 error. This is because of by default Django uses CSRF middleware (Cross Site Request Forgery protection). To avoid 403 error we need to marks a view as being exempt from the protection as described here https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/csrf/#utilities so add couple strings in code:
from django.views.decorators.csrf import csrf_exempt
#csrf_exempt
def your_api_endpoint(request):
And in my case I use url "https://your-domain.com/your-endpoint/" with slash symbol "/" at the end of url. Without this slash eBay doesn't confirm subscription.
I am using Flask and this is the code I have used:
from flask import Flask, request
import hashlib
# Create a random verification token, it needs to be 32-80 characters long
verification_token = 'a94cbd68e463cb9780e2008b1f61986110a5fd0ff8b99c9cba15f1f802ad65f9'
endpoint_url = 'https://dev.example.com'
app = Flask(__name__)
# There will be errors if you just use '/' as the route as it will redirect eBays request
# eBay will send a request to https://dev.example.com?challenge_code=123
# The request will get redirected by Flask to https://dev.example.com/?challenge_code=123 which eBay will not accept
endpoint = endpoint_url + '/test'
# The Content-Type header will be added automatically by Flask as 'application/json'
#app.route('/test')
def test():
code = request.args.get('challenge_code')
print('Requests argument:', code)
code = code + token + endpoint
code = code.encode('utf-8')
code = hashlib.sha256(code)
code = code.hexdigest()
print('Hexdigest:', code)
final = {"challengeResponse": code}
return final

I already have a REST API with GAE python built using webapp2. I was looking at protorpc messages used in protorpc and Cloud Enpoints and really like how I can define the request and responses. Is there a way to incorporate that into my webapp2 handlers?
Firstly I use a decorator on the webapp2 method. I define the decorator as follows*:
# Takes webapp2 request (self.request on baseHandler) and converts to defined protoRpc object
def jsonMethod(requestType, responseType, http_method='GET'):
"""
NB: if both URL and POST parameters are used, do not use 'required=True' values in the protorpc Message definition
as this will fail on one of the sets of parms
"""
def jsonMethodHandler(handler):
def jsonMethodInner(self, **kwargs):
requestObject = getJsonRequestObject(self, requestType, http_method, kwargs)
logging.info(u'request={0}'.format(requestObject))
response = handler(self, requestObject) # Response object
if response:
# Convert response to Json
responseJson = protojson.encode_message(response)
else:
responseJson = '{}'
logging.info(u'response json={0}'.format(responseJson))
if self.response.headers:
self.response.headers['Content-Type'] = 'application/json'
if responseJson:
self.response.write(responseJson)
self.response.write('')
return jsonMethodInner
return jsonMethodHandler
The jsonMethod decorator uses a protorpc message for 'requestType' and 'responseType'.
I have constrained the http_method to be either GET, POST or DELETE for a method; you may wish to change this.
Note that this decorator must be applied to instance methods on a webapp2.RequestHandler class (see the example below) as it needs to access the webapp2 request and response objects.
The protorpc message is populated in getJsonRequestObject():
def getJsonRequestObject(self, requestType, http_method, kwargs):
"kwargs: URL keywords eg: /api/test/<key:\d+> => key"
"request.GET: used for 'GET' URL query string arguments"
"request.body: used for 'POST' or 'DELETE' form fields"
logging.info(u'URL parameters: {0}'.format(kwargs))
if http_method == 'POST' or http_method == 'DELETE':
requestJson = self.request.body
if requestJson == None:
requestJson = '' # Cater for no body (eg: IE10)
try:
logging.info("Content type = {}".format(self.request.content_type))
logRequest = requestJson if len(requestJson) < 1024 else requestJson[0:1024]
try:
logging.info(u'Request JSON: {0}'.format(logRequest))
except:
logging.info("Cannot log request JSON (invalid character?)")
postRequestObject = protojson.decode_message(requestType, requestJson)
except:
logError()
raise
if self.request.query_string:
# combine POST and GET parameters [GET query string overrides POST field]
getRequestObject = protourlencode.decode_message(requestType, self.request.query_string)
requestObject = combineRequestObjects(requestType, getRequestObject, postRequestObject)
else:
requestObject = postRequestObject
elif http_method == 'GET':
logging.info(u'Query strings: {0}'.format(self.request.query_string))
requestObject = protourlencode.decode_message(requestType, self.request.query_string)
logging.info(u'Request object: {0}'.format(requestObject))
else:
raise ValidationException(u'Invalid HTTP method: {0}'.format(http_method))
if len(kwargs) > 0:
#Combine URL keywords (kwargs) with requestObject
queryString = urllib.urlencode(kwargs)
keywordRequestObject = protourlencode.decode_message(requestType, queryString)
requestObject = combineRequestObjects(requestType, requestObject, keywordRequestObject)
return requestObject
getJsonRequestObject() handles GET, POST and webapp2 URL arguments (note: these are entered as kwargs).
combineRequestObjects() combines two objects of the requestType message:
def combineRequestObjects(requestType, request1, request2):
"""
Combines two objects of requestType; Note that request2 values will override request1 values if duplicated
"""
members = inspect.getmembers(requestType, lambda a:not(inspect.isroutine(a)))
members = [m for m in members if not m[0].startswith('_')]
for key, value in members:
val = getattr(request2, key)
if val:
setattr(request1, key, val)
return request1
Finally, a decorated webapp2 method example:
from protorpc import messages, message_types
class FileSearchRequest(messages.Message):
"""
A combination of file metadata and file information
"""
filename = messages.StringField(1)
startDateTime = message_types.DateTimeField(2)
endDateTime = message_types.DateTimeField(3)
class ListResponse(messages.Message):
"""
List of strings response
"""
items = messages.StringField(1, repeated=True)
...
class FileHandler(webapp2.RequestHandler):
#jsonMethod(FileSearchRequest, ListResponse, http_method='POST')
def searchFiles(self, request):
# Can now use request.filename etc
...
return ListResponse(items=items)
Hopefully this will give you some idea of how to go about implementing your own webapp2/protorpc framework.
You can also check and see how Cloud Endpoints is implementing their protorpc message handling. You may also need to dive into the protorpc code itself.
Please note that I have attempted to simplify my existing implementation, so you may come across various issues that you will need to address in your implementation.
In addition methods like 'logError()' and classes like 'ValidationException' are non-standard, so you will need to replace them as you see fit.
You may also wish to remove the logging at some point.
Basically i need to get all messages of a page using facebook SDK in python.
Following some tutorial i arrived to this point:
import facebook
def main():
cfg = {
"page_id" : "MY PAGE ID",
"access_token" : "LONG LIVE ACCESS TOKEN"
}
api = get_api(cfg)
msg = "Hre"
status = api.put_wall_post(msg) #used to post to wall message Hre
x = api.get_object('/'+str(MY PAGE ID)+"/conversations/") #Give actual conversations
def get_api(cfg):
graph = facebook.GraphAPI(cfg['access_token'])
resp = graph.get_object('me/accounts')
page_access_token = None
for page in resp['data']:
if page['id'] == cfg['page_id']:
page_access_token = page['access_token']
graph = facebook.GraphAPI(page_access_token)
return graph
if __name__ == "__main__":
main()
The first problem is that api.get_object('/'+str(MY PAGE ID)+"/conversations/")returns a dictionary containing many informations, but what i would like to see is the messages they sent to me, while for now it print the user id that sent to me a message.
The output look like the following:
{u'paging': {u'next': u'https://graph.facebook.com/v2.4/571499452991432/conversations?access_token=Token&limit=25&until=1441825848&__paging_token=enc_AdCqaKAP3e1NU9MGSsvSdzDPIIDtB2ZCe2hCYfk7ft5ZAjRhsuVEL7eFYOOCdQ8okvuhZA5iQWaYZBBbrZCRNW8uzWmgnKGl69KKt4catxZAvQYCus7gZDZD', u'previous': u'https://graph.facebook.com/v2.4/571499452991432/conversations?access_token=token&limit=25&since=1441825848&__paging_token=enc_AdCqaKAP3e1NU9MGSsvSdzDPIIDtB2ZCe2hCYfk7ft5ZAjRhsuVEL7eFYOOCdQ8okvuhZA5iQWaYZBBbrZCRNW8uzWmgnKGl69KKt4catxZAvQYCus7gZDZD&__previous=1'}, u'data': [{u'link': u'/communityticino/manager/messages/?mercurythreadid=user%3A1055476438&threadid=mid.1441825847634%3Af2e0247f54f5c4d222&folder=inbox', u'id': u't_mid.1441825847634:f2e0247f54f5c4d222', u'updated_time': u'2015-09-09T19:10:48+0000'}]}
which is basically paging and data.
Given this is there a way to read the conversation?
In order to get the messages content you need first to request the single messages in the conversation, accessible with the 'id' field in the dictionary you copied, result of
x = api.get_object('/'+str(MY PAGE ID)+"/conversations/") #Give actual conversations
you can request the messages in the conversation by calling
msg = api.get_object('/'+<message id>)
Here it gets tricky, because following the graph api documentation you should receive back a dictionary with ALL the possible fields, including the 'message' (content) field. The function however returns only the fields 'created_time' and 'id'.
Thanks to this other question Request fields in Python Facebook SDK I found that you can request for those fields by adding a dict with such fields specified in the arguments of the graph.get_object() function. As far as I know this is undocumented in the facebook sdk reference for python.
The correct code is
args = {'fields' : 'message'}
msg = api.get_object('/'+<message id>, **args)

In order to test a Flask application, I got a flask test client POSTing request with files as attachment
def make_tst_client_service_call1(service_path, method, **kwargs):
_content_type = kwargs.get('content-type','multipart/form-data')
with app.test_client() as client:
return client.open(service_path, method=method,
content_type=_content_type, buffered=True,
follow_redirects=True,**kwargs)
def _publish_a_model(model_name, pom_env):
service_url = u'/publish/'
scc.data['modelname'] = model_name
scc.data['username'] = "BDD Script"
scc.data['instance'] = "BDD Stub Simulation"
scc.data['timestamp'] = datetime.now().strftime('%d-%m-%YT%H:%M')
scc.data['file'] = (open(file_path, 'rb'),file_name)
scc.response = make_tst_client_service_call1(service_url, method, data=scc.data)
Flask Server end point code which handles the above POST request is something like this
#app.route("/publish/", methods=['GET', 'POST'])
def publish():
if request.method == 'POST':
LOG.debug("Publish POST Service is called...")
upload_files = request.files.getlist("file[]")
print "Files :\n",request.files
print "Upload Files:\n",upload_files
return render_response_template()
I get this Output
Files:
ImmutableMultiDict([('file', <FileStorage: u'Single_XML.xml' ('application/xml')>)])
Upload Files:
[]
If I change
scc.data['file'] = (open(file_path, 'rb'),file_name)
into (thinking that it would handle multiple files)
scc.data['file'] = [(open(file_path, 'rb'),file_name),(open(file_path, 'rb'),file_name1)]
I still get similar Output:
Files:
ImmutableMultiDict([('file', <FileStorage: u'Single_XML.xml' ('application/xml')>), ('file', <FileStorage: u'Second_XML.xml' ('application/xml')>)])
Upload Files:
[]
Question:
Why request.files.getlist("file[]") is returning an empty list?
How can I post multiple files using flask test client, so that it can be retrieved using request.files.getlist("file[]") at flask server side ?
Note:
I would like to have flask client I dont want curl or any other client based solutions.
I dont want to post single file in multiple requests
Thanks

Python - What type is flask.request.files.stream supposed to be?
You send the files as the parameter named file, so you can't look them up with the name file[]. If you want to get all the files named file as a list, you should use this:
upload_files = request.files.getlist("file")
On the other hand, if you really want to read them from file[], then you need to send them like that:
scc.data['file[]'] = # ...
(The file[] syntax is from PHP and it's used only on the client side. When you send the parameters named like that to the server, you still access them using $_FILES['file'].)

Werkzeug client is doing some clever stuff by storing requests data in MultiDict
#native_itermethods(['keys', 'values', 'items', 'lists', 'listvalues'])
class MultiDict(TypeConversionDict):
"""A :class:`MultiDict` is a dictionary subclass customized to deal with
multiple values for the same key which is for example used by the parsing
functions in the wrappers. This is necessary because some HTML form
elements pass multiple values for the same key.
:class:`MultiDict` implements all standard dictionary methods.
Internally, it saves all values for a key as a list, but the standard dict
access methods will only return the first value for a key. If you want to
gain access to the other values, too, you have to use the `list` methods as
explained below.
getList call looks for a given key in the "requests" dictionary. If the key doesn't exist, it returns empty list.
def getlist(self, key, type=None):
"""Return the list of items for a given key. If that key is not in the
`MultiDict`, the return value will be an empty list. Just as `get`
`getlist` accepts a `type` parameter. All items will be converted
with the callable defined there.
:param key: The key to be looked up.
:param type: A callable that is used to cast the value in the
:class:`MultiDict`. If a :exc:`ValueError` is raised
by this callable the value will be removed from the list.
:return: a :class:`list` of all the values for the key.
