I have multiple strings that looks like this:

I want to compare the string to my list and if part of the string is in the list, I want to get only the part that is found on the list as a new variable.
This is my code:
mylist = ["770", "790", "1470", "1490"]
sq = “BPBA-SG790-NGTP-W-AU-BUN-3Y”
matching = [s for s in mylist if any(xs in s for xs in sq)]
print(matching)
>>> ['770', '790', '1470', '1490']
For example this is what I want to get:
mylist = ["770", "790", "1470", "1490"]
sq = “BPBA-SG790-NGTP-W-AU-BUN-3Y”
matching = [s for s in mylist if any(xs in s for xs in sq)]
print(matching)
>>> 790

Like this, you can use a list comprehension:
mylist = ["770", "790", "1470", "1490"]
sq = "BPBA-SG790-NGTP-W-AU-BUN-3Y"
matching = [m for m in mylist if m in sq]
print(matching)
Output:
['790']
You can use the in keyword from python:
mylist = ["770", "790", "1470", "1490"]
sq = "BPBA-SG790-NGTP-W-AU-BUN-3Y"
for i in mylist:
if i in sq:
print(i)
The code iterates through the list and prints the list element if it is in the string
Not sure I get your question, but the following should do the trick
[x for x in mylist if x in sq]
It return you with a list of those elements of the list that appears in the string
try
mylist = ["770", "790", "1470", "1490"]
sq = "BPBA-SG790-NGTP-W-AU-BUN-3Y"
b = [x for x in mylist if sq.find(x) != -1]
print b
[s for s in mylist if s in sq]

This is a list comprehension. It evaluates to a list of strings s in mylist that satisfy the predicate s in sq (i.e., s is a substring of sq).

I have the list_of_lists and I need to get the string that contains 'height' in the sublists and if there is no height at all I need to get 'nvt' for the whole sublist.

This is a good case for implementing a for/else construct as follows:
list_of_lists = [['width=9','length=3'],['width=6','length=4','height=4']]
result = []
for e in list_of_lists:
for ss in e:
if ss.startswith('height'):
result.append(ss)
break
else:
result.append('nvt')
print(result)
Output:
['nvt', 'height=4']

This could probably be done with a list comprehension but I think this is more obvious and probably has no significant difference in terms of performance
This should work, you can assign height variable to first value in the sublist where s.startswith("height") is True, and if nothing matches this filter, you can assign height to 'nvt'.
_lists = []
for sublist in list_of_lists:
height = next(filter(lambda s: s.startswith("height"), sublist), 'nvt')
_lists.append(height)
And if you wish to be crazy, you can use list comprehension to reduce the code to the:
_lists = [next(filter(lambda s: s.startswith("height"), sublist), 'nvt') for sublist in list_of_lists]

One way is zipping the strings in the list, which will interleave the characters from each string in the specified fashion, and join them back with str.join:
l = ['abc', 'def','ghi','jkl']
list(map(''.join, zip(*l)))
# ['adgj', 'behk', 'cfil']
For strings with different length, use zip_longest, and fill with an empty string:
from itertools import zip_longest
l = ['abcZ', 'def','ghi','jkl']
list(map(''.join, zip_longest(*l, fillvalue='')))
# ['adgj', 'behk', 'cfil', 'Z']

I'm trying to remove all numbers within the lists of this list. So I made a list of numbers as strings from 1 to 100:

How can I iterate through lists in mylist and remove the numbers in numbs? Can I use list comprehension in this case?
If number is always in the end in sublist
mylist = [ x[:-1] for x in mylist ]
mylist = [[item for item in sublist if item not in numbs] for sublist in mylist] should do the trick.
However, this isn't quite what you've asked. Nothing was actually removed from mylist, we've just built an entirely new list and reassigned it to mylist. Same logical result, though.
If numbers are always at the end and only once, you can remove the last item like:
my_new_list = [x[:-1] for x in mylist]
If there is more (of if they are not ordered), you have to loop thru each elements, in that case you can use:
my_new_list = [[elem for elem in x if elem not in integer_list] for x in mylist]
I would also recommend to generate the list of interger as follow :
integer_list = list(map(str, range(1, 100)))

Instead of enumerating all the integers you want to filter out you can use the isdigit to test each string to see if it really is only numbers:
mylist = [['pears','apples','40'],['grapes','trees','90','bears']]
mylist2 = [[x for x in aList if not x.isdigit()] for aList in mylist]

List comprehension is a concept where you write an expression:
[<expr> for <var> in <iterable>]
Python iterates over the <iterable> and unifies it with <var> (here i), next it calls the <expr> and the result is appended to the list until the <iterable> is exhausted.

I need to concatenate an item from a list with an item from another list. In my case the item is a string (a path more exactly). After the concatenation I want to obtain a list with all the possible items resulted from concatenation.

The built-in itertools module defines a product() function for this:

result = itertools.product(list1, list2)
The for loop can do this easily:
my_list, combo = [], ''
list1 = ['Library/FolderA/', 'Library/FolderB/', 'Library/FolderC/']
list2 = ['FileA', 'FileB']
for x in list1:
for y in list2:

my_list.append(combo)
return my_list
You can also just print them:
