I would just like a tip on how to send even numbers to the left and odd numbers to the right, I've been trying for a long time and I can't, the subject is composed lists, I appreciate any help. Simplified code below without loop or conditional structure.
test = [[],[]]
num = int (input("Type it : "))
test.append()
print(test)

test = [[], []]
num = input("Enter a number or quit")
while num != "quit": # execute code as long as num is not quit
num = int(num) # convert num to a number (until here, it's a string !!!)
if num % 2 == 0: # num is even
test[0].append(num)
else: # num is odd
test[1].append(num)
print(test)

The program should print the entries which are divided into three without the remainder. The problem is "TypeError : not all arguments converted during string formatting python " in the bottom
numbers = [ ]
while True:
inputNumber = (input("Enter a number if you want to terminate this, please tap on 'q' : "))
if inputNumber == "q":
break
numbers.append(inputNumber)
sum = 0
for i in numbers:
sum+=int(i)
print("Sum of the inputs : ", sum)
#unexecutable lines
for i in numbers:
if(i%3 == 0):
print(i)
Variable i is in string format.
Hence type cast it to int before carrying out calculation:
#unexecutable lines
for i in numbers:
if(int(i)%3 == 0):
print(i)

How to i make this while loop " not equal to" [duplicate]

Is there a "not equal" operator in Python?

So theres a small chunk of code im working on for a school project but im not sure if this while command is possile:
array = []
list_amount = int(input("Enter how many numbers will be in the list"))
while len(array) == list_amount:
array.append(int(input("Enter a number")))
In the line, while len(array) == list_amount:
I want it to be not equal to
So that it will keep letting you add numbers until the length of the array and the amount you entered are the same then the loop will break.
Replace == with !=. != is a python syntax for "not equal to".
Use the != operator:
array = []
list_amount = int(input("Enter how many numbers will be in the list"))
while len(array) != list_amount:
array.append(int(input("Enter a number")))
Just do != instead of ==. It means not equal to and is basically the opposite of ==.
array = []
list_amount = int(input("Enter how many numbers will be in the list"))
for i in range(list_amount):
array.append(int(input("Enter a number")))

I am new to python and am having a hard time figuring out where my issue begins, I believe that I am mis-defining the variable "primes" in my first if statement. I appreciate the help. The paragraph below is of the task that I am trying to accomplish.
Take a number from the user. Respond with the word "Unitary" if the number is 1, with the word "Prime" if the number is in the list and with the word "Composite" otherwise.

Python while loop ( doesnt comes out from while loop ) [duplicate]

How can I read inputs as numbers?
(10 answers)
Closed 4 years ago.
I want this python code comes out from loop when I enter 0 as input number of "num" variable But it continues printing these three lines constantly
Thanks
num = 10 #10 is dummy number for starting loop
while(num!=0):
print("1)Test func1")
print("2)Test func2")
print("0)Exit")
num = input("Enter a number:")
print("Comes out from while loop!")
There reason behind is that the input takes input as a string and you have to either convert it to int:
num = int(input("Enter a number:"))
or change the while loop:
while(num!='0'):
print takes input as string , in order to come out of loop
use
num = int(input("Enter a number:"))
it will consider num variable as an integer but not an string and will come out of the loop.
You have got a correct answer before this but you can change your code too:
while True:
print("1)Test func1")
print("2)Test func2")
print("0)Exit")
num = input("Enter a number:")
if num == '0':
break
print("Comes out from while loop!")
at the begining while always get True, you don't need to set value, 'break' means 'stop current loop and exit'

Python - Count elements in list [duplicate]

I want the program to find the number of times a particular number occurs within a list. What am I doing wrong here?
def list1():
numInput = input("Enter numbers separated by commas: ")
numList = numInput.split(",")
numFind = int(input("Enter a number to look for: "))
count = 0
for num in numList:
if num == numFind:
count += 1
length = len(numList)
# dividing how many times the input number was entered
# by the length of the list to find the %
fraction = count / length
print("Apeared",count,"times")
print("Constitutes",fraction,"% of this data set")
list1()
numList isn't a list of numbers, it's a list of strings. Try converting to integer before comparing to numFind.
if int(num) == numFind:
Alternatively, leave numFind as a string:
numFind = input("Enter a number to look for: ")
... Although this may introduce some complications, e.g. if the user enters 1, 2, 3, 4 as their list (note the spaces) and 2 as their number, It will say "Appeared 0 time" because " 2" and "2" won't compare equal.
There are 2 issues with the code, First you are comparing int with str and the second is count / length. In Python when you divide int with int you get an int returned not a float (as expected.) so fraction = flost(count) / length would work for you , also you need to convert all the elements in the list to integers which can be done as :
numList = map(int, numInput.split(","))
